EWU Law Runs Certificate Course on Maritime & Marine Insurance Law

EWU's Department of Law hosted a two day certificate course bringing together legal professionals and maritime practitioners to cover maritime and marine insurance law.

The Department of Law at East West University, in collaboration with the Bangladesh Maritime Law Society and technical partner MCLaw Services Ltd., organized a two day Short Certificate Course on "Introduction to Maritime & Marine Insurance Law and Admiralty Practice" on August 7 and 8, 2026, at the S.M. Nousher Ali Lecture Gallery.

The course brought together students, legal professionals, and maritime practitioners for interactive lectures, case studies, and group exercises covering admiralty practice, marine insurance, shipping documents, IMO conventions, carriage of goods by sea, and international trade.

The Opening Ceremony was attended by Prof. Dr. Mohammad Ashik Mossaddik, Pro-Vice Chancellor of EWU, as Chief Guest, alongside judicial and maritime law figures including Mr. S.K. Samidul Islam, Mr. Mohammad Faruque, and Mr. Mohiuddin Abdul Kadir, President of BMLS. Academic sessions were led by experienced professionals including Mr. Mohiuddin Abdul Kadir, Adv. Shweata Mishra, and Engr. Ataur Rahman.

The Closing Ceremony featured Commodore Md. Shaful Bari, Director General of the Department of Shipping, as Chief Guest, along with Vice-Chancellor Prof. Dr. Shams Rahman and other senior university officials. The program concluded with certificate distribution to all participants.
