Two students from the Department of Law at East West University, Ramisha Nujhat and Fagun Das, attended a day-long workshop titled "Building a Youth Network for a Better Future", organized by Eastern University in collaboration with UNODC. The workshop focused on Trafficking in Persons (TIP) and Smuggling of Migrants (SOM), bringing together students from 17 public and private universities across Bangladesh.
The sessions were led by UNODC experts including Ms. Tasneem Binta Karim and Mr. Marcus Vinicius Paes, covering human rights-based approaches to trafficking and the key distinctions between TIP and migrant smuggling. Additional sessions were conducted by law enforcement and legal professionals, keeping participants engaged through group discussions, interactive activities, and a quiz competition.
The workshop concluded with a certificate distribution ceremony, with Ms. Rebeka Khan, Joint Secretary of the Ministry of Home Affairs, delivering the closing remarks.
