East West University will officially represent Bangladesh at the 18th Nelson Mandela World Human Rights Moot Court Competition, held from July 13 to 17, 2026, at the United Nations Headquarters in Geneva, Switzerland. The competition is regarded as one of the world's premier international moot court events, bringing together outstanding law students from across the globe to argue contemporary human rights issues before distinguished jurists and legal scholars.
The team representing EWU's Department of Law consists of Shagufta Chowdhury Adrita and Md. Salmun Alam, competing as oralists, under the guidance of Nur-A Ariya Alam, Lecturer, Department of Law, who accompanies the team as Coach.
The team's preparation was supported by university leadership, including Prof. Dr. Mohammed Farashuddin, Chairperson of the Board of Trustees, Vice Chancellor Prof. Shams Rahman, Pro-Vice Chancellor Prof. Dr. Mohammad Ashik Mosaddik, and other senior officials who facilitated their participation. Mentorship for the team came from Dr. Nabaat Tasnima Mahbub, Chairperson of the Department of Law, and Dr. Md. Mehedi Hasan, alongside contributions from several other faculty members within the department.
With the competition beginning tomorrow, EWU becomes Bangladesh's representative on one of the most prestigious legal stages in the world, carrying the department's growing reputation in international legal advocacy onto the global platform in Geneva.
