EWU and BIDS Sign MoU for Economics Research Collaboration

EWU's Department of Economics has signed an MoU with BIDS to establish joint research and academic collaboration on national development issues.

The Department of Economics at East West University and the Bangladesh Institute of Development Studies (BIDS) signed a Memorandum of Understanding on August 13, 2026, at the Board Room of East West University, Aftabnagar, establishing a strategic partnership for academic and development research collaboration.

The agreement creates a formal framework for joint research initiatives, high level policy dialogues, capacity building programs, collaborative seminars, and academic exchanges aimed at addressing key economic and social development challenges in Bangladesh. The MoU was signed on behalf of EWU by Dr. Iftekharul Huq, Chairperson of the Department of Economics, and on behalf of BIDS by Mr. Subash Chandra Saha, Acting Secretary.

The ceremony was attended by Prof. Dr. Mohammed Farashuddin, Chairperson of EWU's Board of Trustees, Vice Chancellor Prof. Dr. Md. Shams-ur Rahman, Prof. Dr. A. K. Enamul Haque, Director General of BIDS, Pro-Vice Chancellor Prof. Dr. M. Ashik Mosaddik, Treasurer Air Cdre Ishfaq Ilahi Choudhury, and senior faculty members from the Department of Economics.
