East West University inaugurated a two-month training program titled "Artificial Intelligence in Higher Education: Teaching, Research, and Responsible Innovation" on June 11, 2026, at the S. M. Nousher Ali Lecture Gallery. The program is jointly organized by the Institutional Quality Assurance Cell (IQAC) and the East West University Center for Research and Training (EWUCRT).
The welcome address was delivered by Prof. Dr. Ahmed Wasif Reza, Dean of the Faculty of Sciences and Engineering and Additional Director of IQAC, who spoke on the growing importance of AI literacy and the need to equip faculty with skills to integrate AI into teaching, research, and institutional practices responsibly.
Mr. Ma Ben, Managing Director of Public Affairs for Huawei's South Asia Region, attended as Guest of Honor and spoke on the value of academia-industry collaboration in preparing graduates for a technology-driven future. The ceremony was also graced by Prof. Dr. Mohammed Farashuddin, Chairperson of the Board of Trustees and Founder Vice Chancellor of EWU, who emphasized embracing emerging technologies while upholding ethical standards. Vice Chancellor Prof. Dr. Shams Rahman noted that the initiative reflects EWU's ongoing commitment to faculty development and academic excellence.
A total of 40 faculty members representing 10 academic programs will take part in the training, which aims to strengthen understanding of AI applications in higher education, research methodologies, and responsible AI adoption.
The event was attended by the Treasurer, Deans, department chairpersons, faculty members, and officials from IQAC and EWUCRT, reflecting a university-wide push toward AI-enabled teaching and research.
