East West University has signed a landmark contract with the Skills for Industry Competitiveness and Innovation Program (SICIP), Finance Division, Ministry of Finance, to establish the Center for Innovation and Technology (CINTEC) — a dedicated multidisciplinary research and incubation hub at EWU. The signing took place on April 20, 2026, at the SICIP Conference Room.
CINTEC will focus on applied research and technology development to address Bangladesh's emerging industry challenges, starting with an Autonomous Effluent Treatment Plant (ETP) for the RMG, Leather, and Textile sectors — utilizing AI, IoT, MEMS, and advanced sensor technologies. The center is also committed to promoting green and environmentally responsible solutions aligned with the Fourth Industrial Revolution (4IR).
The project will be led by Prof. Dr. Md. Mojammel Al Hakim from the Department of EEE, alongside Dr. Fakir Mashuque Alamgir and Ms. Jarin Tasnim Heia from Civil Engineering. Vice Chancellor Prof. Shams Rahman will serve as Advisor. The project runs from May 2026 to December 2028, with a total contract value of BDT 90,380,800.
