On April 15, 2026, the Department of Law at East West University (EWU) hosted a workshop titled "Education for Justice: Trafficking in Persons (TIP) and Smuggling of Migrants (SOM)" in collaboration with the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC), under its global E4J initiative.
The workshop was inaugurated by Pro-Vice Chancellor Prof. Dr. Mohammad Ashik Mosaddik and welcomed by Department Chairperson Dr. Nabaat Tasnima Mahbub. Two expert-led sessions were conducted by UNODC South Asia representatives — Marcus Vinicius Paes, who covered legal frameworks on trafficking and smuggling, and Tasneem Binta Karim, who addressed emerging regional trends and youth vulnerability.
Around 100 students took part in interactive discussions and scenario-based exercises, making it a highly engaging learning experience. The event concluded with a certificate distribution ceremony and closing remarks by Ms. Nadia Rahaman, Senior Lecturer, Department of Law.
