The two-day Mental Health Awareness Program organized by EWU Sociology Club in collaboration with Psychological Health and Wellness Care (PHWC) has successfully concluded — and by all accounts, it left a mark.
The final seminar, titled "Prevention of Suicide, Mental Health Awareness and Stress Management Among University Students," drew one of the largest student turnouts for a mental health focused event in recent campus history. The overwhelming participation reflected something important — that EWU students are ready to have these conversations.
The program spanned two phases. The first saw students anonymously submit their mental health questions at a campus booth, creating a safe space for concerns that often go unspoken. The second brought those questions and many more into an open, expert-led seminar — turning silence into dialogue.
Mental health on university campuses in Bangladesh remains a deeply underaddressed issue. Programs like this one don't just raise awareness, they signal to students that their well-being matters and that they are not alone in what they face.
EWU Sociology Club and PHWC deserve recognition for bringing this conversation to campus in a format that students actually showed up for.
