East West University held a farewell ceremony on August 10, 2026, marking the completion of Air Cdre (Retd) Ishfaq Ilahi Choudhury's four year tenure as the university's Treasurer. The ceremony, organized by the Board of Trustees, brought together senior leadership to recognize his years of service to the institution.

In attendance were Prof. Dr. Mohammed Farashuddin, Chairperson of the Board of Trustees, board member Mr. Nowshad Shamsul Arefin, and Vice Chancellor Prof. Dr. Shams Rahman, alongside their spouses, as well as EWU's Pro-Vice Chancellor, Deans, Registrar, Proctor, and other departmental and administrative heads.

Before taking on the Treasurer role, Choudhury served EWU as Registrar, contributing to the university's administrative development over the years. In total, his career in Bangladesh's private university sector spans 23 years, following an earlier career in the Bangladesh Air Force. Among students, he is remembered for being unusually approachable for someone in his position, the kind of administrator students felt comfortable turning to when they needed help.

Colleagues who spoke at the ceremony pointed to his discipline, mentorship, and steady presence within the university's leadership over the years. The event closed with tokens of appreciation presented to Choudhury and his wife, along with well wishes for what comes next.
