Tashdidul Alam and Muhammad Muhtasheem Jeeon, students from the Department of Law at East West University, participated in a full-day Student Workshop on "Regulatory Approaches to Non-Communicable Disease (NCD) Prevention and Control," held on August 22, 2026, at BRAC University. The workshop was jointly organized by the BRAC James P Grant School of Public Health and the International Development Law Organization, bringing together students from Law, Public Health, and Medical disciplines.

Sessions covered the role of legal and regulatory approaches in NCD prevention, the WHO 5x5 approach, and curriculum development, with students taking part in interdisciplinary group activities and poster presentations. As part of one group activity, the two EWU Law students worked alongside three Public Health students to prepare a poster addressing NCD related issues and curriculum review, contributing perspectives on how legal and regulatory dimensions could be better incorporated into academic training.

The sessions were facilitated by academics including Prof. Malay Kanti Mridha of BRAC University, Dr. Bijoy Kumer Paul of Bangladesh Medical University, and other public health and legal education specialists. The workshop highlighted the growing importance of collaboration between legal and public health professionals in developing evidence based strategies to address non-communicable diseases, with EWU's participation reflecting the department's engagement in interdisciplinary legal education.
