Associate Professor in EWU's Department of Pharmacy, has earned international recognition for her postdoctoral research, winning First Place in the Oral Presentation Competition at the 2025 Mercer School of Medicine, College of Pharmacy Joint Research Conference in the United States. The award was particularly notable as she competed against doctoral students and postdoctoral fellows from across all four of Mercer University's campuses.
Dr. Hoque completed her B. Pharm, M. Pharm, and PhD in Pharmaceutical Sciences from Jahangirnagar University in collaboration with BCSIR. Over more than fifteen years at EWU, she has built a research portfolio spanning natural products and fungal metabolites before moving toward cardiovascular pharmacology and translational biomedical research.
A major turning point in her career came through her selection as a Fulbright Visiting Scholar, which took her to Mercer University College of Pharmacy under the mentorship of Associate Professor Dr. Raquibul Hasan. There, her research focused on how gut microbiota-derived metabolites influence vascular inflammation and cardiovascular disease, contributing to an emerging area of microbiome-cardiovascular research.
Dr. Hoque currently serves as Principal Investigator of a funded research project and continues to publish in peer-reviewed journals, with her work centered on identifying new therapeutic approaches for chronic diseases. She remains committed to strengthening biomedical research capacity in Bangladesh and creating research opportunities for students at EWU.
