Md. Aminullah and Raihana Islam Momi, students of the Department of Electrical and Electronic Engineering at East West University, won the Gold Medal at the International Round of the 8th World Innovation Competition and Exhibition, held at SEGi University, Damansara, Malaysia, on September 23, 2026.
This marks the second gold medal for the pair, having previously won at the national round earlier this year before advancing to represent Bangladesh internationally. Their team, FireGuard i.0, developed an autonomous modular industrial firefighting robot, a project that impressed judges at both the national and international stages of the competition.
The result caps off a full circle moment for the team, from EWU's own EEE department to the international stage, and back with gold in hand.
